Today is such a happy, happy day! My Halloween wool appliqué pattern collection is finally complete and in my shop! I simply adore this little collection and have been so anxious to finish it up and make it available! This collection has five really fun projects in it and they are packed with fun little details that I just have to share with you!
The road to this pattern collection is a fun little story. Back when I was designing rubber stamps, I drew a cute little jack-o’-lantern style candy bucket that came with two sentiment stamps that said “eat more candy!” and “fill ‘er up!” The illustration made me smile every time I looked at it. Sadly, the stamp set never made it to production. When I started designing wool appliqué patterns I had a few requests for a Halloween themed pattern. I thought about the candy bucket stamp design and wondered if I could translate that into appliqué. It turns out that yes, it did translate and it turned out even cuter than I could have imagined!
The part I love best is that this cute candy bucket really is a candy bucket! The front of the jack-o’-lantern is a pocket. You can really put things inside of it like these adorable candy buttons from Just Another Button Company!
And the sentiments stamps I mentioned? I couldn’t leave them out of the fun. The pattern for this cutie includes a printable sheet of 5 tags that you can print and attach to your candy bucket. All feature my hand lettering designs!
The more I looked at the art from the stamp set, the more I saw realized that other designs would be awesome wool appliqué also. Since I am kind of known for lettering, I thought a pillow with just lettering would be fun. I loved this lettering combo that said “Trick or Treat” and decided to add it a pillow!
Not just any pillow though, a double-sided pillow! Depending on your mood, you can feature either “trick” or “treat” in your display. Pretty fun, huh?
As I was stitching along, I realized that a trio of mini-pillows or bowl fillers was more fun than a duo (and Trick or Treat Trio is a more fun name). I added a second double-sided mini pillow to pair with the words. The black bat matches the black “treat”…
And this cheerful candy corn duo on the other side looks adorable with the “treat” side of the word pillow.
I had so much fun making the candy corn on the mini pillow, I found myself thinking how cute little shaped candy corn bowl fillers would be. I knew I had to add them to the pattern. But oh, a quandary, now my trio is a quartet… let’s just call this a bonus project!
And then, I added yet another project because I seriously could not stop making candy corn! This second bonus project is fun little candle mat or mug rug. I’m not sure what it is about it, but it just makes me so happy!
And just wait until you break out your candy corn or pumpkin pie scented candles to sit on it. You WILL have a wave of Halloween Happy roll over you!
You can display the “trio” in a basket, bowl, or platter. I found this fun galvanized pattern in the farmhouse decor section of my local Hobby Lobby for only $4.99!
