Happy Saturday! Today I am popping in with more wooden spool inspiration. I really had a great time making the spools I shared yesterday. I wasn’t ready to stop making photo spools when I ran out of the metal photo clips. I decided to make some clips from wire that I had on hand so that the spool fun could continue!
Today’s spools all feature die cut felt posies made from my assorted posies dies.
For this spool, I wanted to use the white of the spool as the theme. I die cut two white flowers from wool felt using my Frayed Posies die. I added a mixture of pearl and matte stamens in the center. I also added two wool felt die cut leaves using my Pom Pom Posies.
I wrapped the spool with a fun pink and white eyelet ribbon. I added a pin and vintage button. I also added a small piece of a broken pearl necklace as a dangle from the top of the spool. I also added a Shabby Posies die cut at the bottom of the spool.
I used thread covered floral wire to create my photo clip. I will be sharing how to make these in a video tutorial on Monday.
I kept these felt posie spools more simple than the vintage spools. All of the posie parts are die cut from wool felt.
This one features two Pom Pom Posies leaves and a flower made up of a Shabby Posie, a Pom Pom Posie, small vintage paper posies, and pearl stamens. The photo clip in the back is made from thread covered floral wire like the one shown above.
This spool had a beautiful deep yellow thread on it. I loved that you could see how time had changed the color. I added a posie to it made with two Pom Pom Posies leaves, a Floweret Posie, a small Pom Pom Posies, and vintage paper posies and stamens.
Isn’t the color of this thread amazing?

I used the spools at the show to display cards. They are super cute for small notes, photos, or place cards. The card shown is the insert card that comes in all my mini envelope dies.
(I wish I had secured that crazy thread end before photographing!)
I like that the view of the back is very clean and tidy. I think that would be important if you used them as a place card holder on a table setting where the back would show.
This is a little cute mini spool holding the same small note card shown above. I made a rosette using a Pom Pom Posie (see how to make one on the Spellbinders blog), added two leaves, and two vintage buttons. To make the buttons stand out, I wired them onto “stems” with floral wire that I poked down into the center with the other wires.
These spools are easy to make and are such a fun touch to your tablescapes and decor.
On Monday I will be sharing a video tutorial showing how to make these step-by-step. Be sure to come back and check that out. But beware! It could cause you to catch spool fever like me! 😉
