I am so thrilled to tell you that I have partnered with StencilGirl Products to release a collection of mylar stencils that are perfect for crafters who love to get messy and layer on tons of product or ones who love clean and simple! The stencils feature a main design area that is 5×7, perfect for card makers, art journalers, and even page makers. Each stencil has two design sections. The designs are focused on background basics that you can use again and again. The pattern and scale of each stencil is designed to work well with my stamps and dies. They are all background designs I reach for again and again.

L528 Basics Polka Heart Stencil
The first two stencils are basics. They feature polka dots and hearts. Each set contains two sizes of the design, one horizontal and one vertical. On this example, I created a painted background on mixed media cardstock. I then applied the hearts with texture paste. When the texture paste was dry I brushed over it with ink using an ink blending tool.

L529 Basics Polka Party
Use these stencils to create a background on cardstock, inked or painted paper, or pattern paper by simply applying a thin layer of texture paste through the stencil. Of course you can use inks and paints with them, but for a fast basic, texture paste or embossing powder is a great choice. This example features a simple inked background. I applied the dots with plain white texture paste. So easy! You could easily do this to solid pattern papers and cardstock.
The other 7 stencils are what I am calling “two step stencils”. The two design areas are designed to layer together to create one multi-colored or multi-textured image. You can use them individually but you are going to be wow’d by how they look together. To use, ink or paint your surface through one side of the stencil. Remove the stencil. Match up the design on the second side. Add more ink or paint through the stencil design on the second side of the stencil.

L531 Gingham Two Step Stencil
For gingham, you can ink or paint both steps with one single color or two similar colors. Both look great!

L533 Mad for Plaid Two Step Stencil
With plaid, you can add lots of colors or use just one for a more gingham look.
Other things you should know:
-
- StencilGirl stencils are made in the US.
- They are mylar and will not melt and are incredibly strong.
- StencilGirl Stencils are usually 7 mil thick HOWEVER my stencils are 10 mil. The thicker weight is still super thin and allows for clean and crisp stenciled image AND can be used to dry emboss with a manual die cutting machine! I’ll have a tutorial on that soon too!

L532 Leafage Two Step Stencil
On this example, I colored the leaves with ink and the stems with brown texture paste. It is really fun to be able to use different techniques for the different layers.

L534 Petite Greens Two Step Stencil
I think the two sections on several of the stencils will work great on their own also. I am planning to use the ferns on this stencil without the leaves on a journal page.

L535 Petite Posies Two Step Stencil
For this sweet background I used ink on the first step and embossing powder on the second.

L536 Posie Parade Two Step Stencil
I truly believe in creating products that are good basic tools that can be used over and over again with a variety of techniques. I love that with these stencils designs I was able to do just that. Be sure to check out my blog posts next week that will show all these stencils in action combined with my stamps.
The stencils are available now in the StencilGirl online store. Use the links in the supply section to shop!
