I simply adore just about anything and everything vintage. I find that I draw a lot of inspiration for projects from looking at and collecting vintage treasures. This month’s Heartfelt appliqué block pattern draws inspiration from vintage crochet pineapple pincushions. I love the way they feature a border of folded ribbon around a heart shaped pincushion. The border on this month’s Heartfelt block features my interpretation of that ribbon border done in wool.
The folds of wool around the heart add so much dimension! It looks tricky to create, but is super easy with the step-by-step instructions included in the pattern.
Each heartfelt appliqué block features a special word, one that is… heartfelt. This month the word is faith.
Each block also includes other bits of things I love, like posies, ribbon, and buttons.
This Monarch Butterfly button from Just Another Button Company served as my color inspiration. I felt like the transformation and life of a butterfly was a perfect pairing with the word faith. I also chose Mustard colored buttons as a nod to the scripture about mustard seed faith.
The pattern includes a list of all my color choices so that you can create your block the same as mine or substitute color choices of your own.
I love the way this month’s block turned out! I adore the dimension and mix of happy colors! I hope you love it too!
