I am so excited to be joining in a fun blog hop today with the folks at Altenew! I have long admired their amazing floral stamps and amazing ink color palates. Earlier this year they launched a collection of new alcohol ink markers. I got to try them at CHA in January and loved them. They have now introduced two new collections of colors to that original set. Being a huge marker fan, I am thrilled for the opportunity to try them out!
Before I share what I created, be sure to check out this amazing line up of artists on this blog hop. Be sure to visit all their blogs to learn more about the new markers and to enter for your chance to win Altenew prizes (details about that below).

I have long admired the floral stamps from Altenew so I was thrilled to get to use them. I created 4 cards using two different stamps sets, all colored with all three sets of markers. I love a simple layered card that lets the stamped image be the focus so I used a basic formula for all the cards- a kraft cardstock base, a simple pattern paper, a vellum overlay to mute the pattern paper, stitching, and the die cut stamped image.
This card features the Beautiful Day stamp and die combo on Ranger Ink’s Sticky Back Canvas and colored with markers from all three color collections.
I love stamping on fabric and was so excited that the Altenew markers worked wonderfully on this image stamped on Ranger Ink’s Sticky Back canvas. Many alcohol ink markers will bleed on fabric but the Altenew markers stayed put with very little and blended well on the fabric surface. (Note: The places where color is outside the lines is my coloring and not bleed.)
The second card I made using the Beautiful Day set is my favorite! I was experimenting with the markers and colored a large patch of light blue leaving a mostly blank center. I stamped the flower in the center and added shades of pink to it.
I love that there is a bit of blue still in the outer petals. I loved the look, but felt it looked a little flat.
The easy fix? I used the matching flower die to cut the flower up so that I could lift it up with adhesive foam. I cut a second flower shape out of white cardstock to fill in the open space like a puzzle piece. I tucked the end of my leaf pieces under the white flower to hide them.
This card features the Smile More set. Daisies are some of my favorite garden flowers. I colored this one in shades of pink to look like pink Gerbera Daisies.
To add dimension, I used the two sizes of the same image and layered them together. I added a few snips between the petals so that I could shape the petals and curl the tips. I colored outside the lines and brushed the edges of each piece with light brown ink to mute the bright white of my cardstock.
My second Smile More card is much more simple. I colored it in shades of yellow (my favorite happy color) to coordinate with the yellows in my background paper.
I shaped and curled the individual leaves so that they would be more realistic. I attached everything with different thicknesses of adhesive foam so that it laid above my surface in different layers.
I had so much fun working with these stamps and really loved the quality of the markers. They are available in such beautiful colors. I love that they each set has shades of the same color so that you can blend with lights and darks easily without a huge investment.
