Happy Valentines day friends! I hope you are having a great day full of thoughts of love and those dear to you.
In honor of this special day, I thought I would share a couple of photos of some heart ornaments that Emma and I created when she made her stamped air dry clay bowls. (See the full tutorial here: Stamped Air Dry Clay Bowls.)
We used my new embossing folders and background stamps to make the impressions in the clay. We used one side of the folder and pressed it into the clay just like a stamp. If you make these, be sure that you clean both your stamps and folders well with running water and a scrub brush, you do not want the clay to dry on them.
We used a vintage heart-shaped cookie cutter to make the heart shape. We poked the holes for the wire through the ornaments after the clay was dry. We used a paper piercer and a round file (bead reamer) to make and smooth the holes. We used Distress Paints to paint them and Sculpey Glaze to seal them. Check out the tutorial for the bowls for more details on that.
The ornaments were so fun and easy to make. We did them when we made the bowls and gave them out as Christmas gifts. They are a great way to craft with your kids while using supplies you already have in your papercrafting stash (stamps, embossing folders, paints, and inks).
PS. The ship date for all of my products is April. They will be available at stores worldwide (independents and online) and online at www.spellbinderspaperarts.com!
