How about a quick does of creative inspiration for your weekend? I have yet another flower filled project to share from my display at CHA… this time it is a vintage hat! I love vintage hats and think they are so fun to use in decor. The best are ones that have amazing vintage millinery on them, but you don’t find those often and when you do, they cost a premium price. My solution? Make my own fabric flowers and add colorful arrangements to my plain hats!
This hat is a super cute lace hat that had a simple cream velvet ribbon on the back. I added a cluster of flowers made with my dies, added vintage pearl bead sprays, and a vintage hat pin. Wouldn’t it be so cute for having your favorite little girl’s Easter photos taken in? (Check out my cute Emma modeling an embellished hat for me a few years ago in one of my flower making tutorials here: Tattered Florals Vintage Hat)
All of the pieces are die cut from crinoline and colored with Distress Spray Stains and Distress Inks. They all are made with my assorted flower dies.
Both types of yellow flowers are from my Floweret Posies die. The dark pink flower with the toothy edges is from my Pinked Posies die. The lighter pink flower with the round leaves is from my Pinwheel Posies die.
The leaves and the tiny blue flowers are from my Pom Pom Posies die. They are adhered to floral wire stems to give them shape and structure. The larger blue flower is from my Shabby Posies die.
Looking at these flowers certainly makes me long for some spring garden therapy in my yard! Isn’t it fun that we can create a bit of that with a bit of fabric and ink all year long?
PS. The ship date for all of my products is April. They will be available at stores worldwide (independents and online) and online at www.spellbinderspaperarts.com!
